Description
This 19th century schooner was moored at Mystic, Connecticut when I snapped the photo. A little tintype recreation in Photoshop and it looks like it was taken ca. 1880. These ships with seven masts were used for whaling as well as shipping people and goods long distances. Seven masts gave them the most "horsepower" on the oceans in their day. Hearkens to a much tougher life.
