I live in the forest east of Asheville, NC. Here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, songbirds and wildlife give me great pleasure. From my second story office window, I set up a Canon 5D Mark III and an f/2.8 400mm lens to shoot birds that perch in trees at the forest edge. This Eastern Towhee was in a tree - a rare sight as they are ground feeders. It is one of more than 21 species of birds that come through here at various times of year.
John Haldane is a published professional artist living in Asheville, North Carolina. His artwork has been featured in fine art galleries in Arizona and North Carolina and in calendars, books, and magazines. The magazines include The Scenic, the Laurel of Asheville, The Writers & Artists Quarterly, COSTCO Magazine, Wild WNC News, Camera in the Wild Magazine, and others.
