Description
Egg Rock Lighthouse sits at the mouth of Frenchman’s Bay, Maine. Egg Rock was one of several islands named for the bounty of eggs that could be collected there. Though seabirds abandoned Egg Rock after the lighthouse was established, in 1998, the island’s lighthouse was one of seven transferred to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for the protection of nesting birds, including Puffins.
The Voyage of the Vikings on the Holland America (HAL) cruise ship, Zaandam, began and ended in Boston, Massachusetts. Highlights included Maine, Newfoundland, Labrador, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland.
