This Leiden Flower Garden was stunning and caught my photographer's eye. During our stop in Rotterdam, we were able to take a subway to the train station and the train to Leiden. My 10th great-grandfather, William Brewster, lived in Leiden 12 years before embarking on the Mayflower to Plimouth, Massachusetts in 1620 with 101 other Pilgrims. I walked the streets and alleys he walked over 400 years ago. It was the most emotionally significant day of my trip.

The Voyage of the Vikings on the Holland America (HAL) cruise ship, Zaandam, began and ended in Boston, Massachusetts. Highlights included Maine, Newfoundland, Labrador, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland.

John Haldane is a published professional artist living in Asheville, North Carolina. His artwork has been featured in fine art galleries in Arizona and North Carolina and in calendars, books, and magazines.
