Description
Glaciers are everywhere in Prince Christian Sound; some are greatly receded; some are greatly melted; some come down to the water's edge like this one. I wanted to capture the beauty in not just photographs but in interpretive digital paintings, so I made this striking image for those who love paintings.
Prince Christian Sound is a 105-kilometer-long (66-mile-long) fjord that separates Greenland’s mainland from the Cape Farewell Archipelago. The remote route is accessible by ship only during the summer months, when warmer temperatures reduce the chance of ice blockages around the entrance. A journey along the passage offers an up-close look at glaciers, icebergs and the imposing mountains that dominate Greenland’s landscape, towering over the narrow channel with their spires and jagged ridges.
The Voyage of the Vikings on the Holland America (HAL) cruise ship, Zaandam, began and ended in Boston, Massachusetts. Highlights included Maine, Newfoundland, Labrador, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland.
