Description
The southern carmine bee-eater (Merops nubicoides) lives in sub-Saharan Africa and is closely related to the Carmine Bee-eater which has a blue throat instead of the carmine red. An interesting factoid is that they nest in holes they create in cliffs or river banks.
Haldane Creative Art includes interesting digital photography by John Haldane of Asheville, North Carolina.
