Artist's Description
The sun rises above a sea of clouds on October 9, 2012. Mount Mitchell is the highest point East of the Mississippi River and on this cold morning stood above the clouds. Mt. Mitchell is also the namesake and centerpiece of the 1,946-acre Mount Mitchell State Park, located 33 miles north of Asheville off the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker #355.

John Haldane is a published professional artist living in Asheville, North Carolina. His artwork has been featured in fine art galleries in Arizona and North Carolina and in calendars, books, and magazines.
