Description
It took me a long time to identify this wild duck spotted at the Halifax Public Gardens. It has many of the markings of a Black Duck but is not black! After reading several birding sites, I discovered that this duck is a hybrid - a strong Black Duck lineage with some other ducks thrown in the mix of genetics. Whatever you want to call it, it is a gorgeous duck!
The Voyage of the Vikings on the Holland America (HAL) cruise ship, Zaandam, began and ended in Boston, Massachusetts. Highlights included Maine, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland.
