Description
The contrast of a wet, clinging snow on trees, branches, and twigs with the dark and gray background of the forest makes this an amazing image. Although it is in color, it appears black and white.
During a Groundhog's Day snowstorm in the mountains of Western North Carolina (WNC), I went driving up unplowed roads in search of unique photo opportunities. This photograph is one of several I snapped that day from inside or beside my Subaru Outback. The images capture a portion of the amazing contrasts between new, white snow and the deep woods and trees discovered in these Smoky Mountains. It was still snowing when I took them.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
