Daddy’s Car
I love to drive my Daddy’s car
It’s bigger than a whale
I get behind the wheel
And race o’er hill and dale
I’m rounding curves and spinning tires
Flying fast up and down
Hitting bumps and jumping humps
And zipping through the town
Missing people, cats, and dogs
Turtles, birds, and pollywogs
Faster, faster, off I go
Through rain and fog and even snow
Faster still I would race
I’d hear the rubber screech
If only gas and brakes
Were just within my reach
Someday I’ll be like Daddy
And make the engine scream
Until then I will have to sit
Behind this wheel
And dream.
