Description
The Masked Lapwing or Plover is a ground bird easily identified by the yellow wattles on its face. They love to nest on the ground in parks, golf courses, sports fields, and pastures. They are rather common. They will protect their nest by dive bombing intruders or faking injury to draw predators away from their nest.
We took the Holland America cruise ship, Noordam for a 34 day Pacific Ocean crossing from San Diego, California to Australia. This trip, in which we stayed extra time in Australia, produced over 6,500 photographs. Only the best ones have been uploaded here for your enjoyment and for purchase.
