I am a street photographer. During the Summer of 2018, I specialized in Black and White candid head shots of people in Asheville, NC. This man sat on the wall adjoining Pritchard Park in downtown enjoying the drum circle sounds and a cool evening.
I captured his photo and then converted the B&W image using a threshold tool in Photoshop. This left just black black and white white - no grays. I then masked out the whites and touched up some areas to fill in black where I wanted the background. The image was completed with a gradient yellow and red to fill in where the white had been. The result is rather stunning, don't you think?
John Haldane is a published professional artist living in Asheville, North Carolina. His artwork has been featured in fine art galleries in Arizona and North Carolina and in calendars, books, and magazines. The magazines include The Scenic, the Laurel of Asheville, The Writers & Artists Quarterly, COSTCO Magazine, Wild WNC News, Camera in the Wild Magazine, and others. He has had articles published in several of these magazines as well. Haldane's art is unique, created using cameras, software, digital tools, and/or paints. Haldane is a member of the Carolina Nature Photographers Association (CNPA).
