Description
No. 611 was one of fourteen Class ‘J’ passenger locomotives built for the Norfolk & Western Railway between 1941 and 1950 and the only one in existence today. On April 10, 2016, it made a run from Spencer, NC to Asheville and back, hauling 20 cars filled with passengers. Leaving Asheville, she chugs up an incline approaching Black Mountain.
